Phantom II Continental Sports Saloon by Barker.
2MY was originally built as a trials car and was the first Continental to have a high lift camshaft,
heavy exhaust valves & high ratio rear axle. Hartfords Telecontrol shock absorbers were also added.
Trials were completed on the 3rd January 1933 and in 1933 the car was fitted with a Barker Sports
Touring Saloon body - Body no.6684
2MY was also the first Continental to be fitted with Eleven Degree bonnet louvres which specified that
they were to be carried out to the rear of the dash. This would indicate that louvres were alsocut into the front
cowl almost to the front door post, further enhancing the long bonnet and engine compartment.
2MY was used as a demonstration Rolls Royce and driven by Captain Len Cox until June 1933 when it was
returned to the London Service Department to have new special pistons fitted and tuned for maximum power.
2MY was then road tested by Malcolm Campbell and Captain Len Cox.
In November 1934 2MY was sold to Major P. Gribble who traded in an
8 Litre Bentley with a £500 allowance on the continental.
2MY has the original registration and to date 5 proud owners.
